Dr Jane Bonds is a pesticide application specialist with over 22 years of experience in both agriculture and public health entomology. Her specialization is in aerial pesticide application but has conducted research with machines ranging from handheld applicators to C130's. Her research with RPAAS began in 2015 in collaboration with China Agricultural University and the Julius Kühn-Institut, Germany. She is the author of the OECD State of the Knowledge Literature Review and the CropLIfe America (Drones working group) White Paper on: Uncrewed aerial spray systems: spray drift, operator exposure, crop residue, and efficacy: Equivalency with conventional techniques.
Her current research is focused on the Development and validation of RPASS systems for vector control, for the Department of Defence, Deployed Warfighter Protection Program. From these efforts she is developing an Empirical database on in-swath variability and downwind drift with RPASS for system optimization and the development of real time calculations of swath displacement and flightline offsetting. This database will also be used for model validation; her current research efforts are in collaboration with Brad Fritz and Harold Thistle.
