Daryn Erickson is a Research Associate II and PhD student under Dr. Crystal Hepp at TGen North in Flagstaff, AZ. She received her Bachelor's in Microbiology from Northern Arizona University where she is now pursuing a PhD in Biology. Since 2017 she has worked under Dr. Hepp on various projects studying the movement and evolution of viruses such as West Nile Virus, SARS-CoV-2, and Influenza. Her research interests include non-invasive viral surveillance methods to improve proactive mitigation strategies. These interests have become the bedrock for her graduate work in which she is studying viral surveillance of RNA viruses in non-contemporary sample types such as wastewater, mosquito pools, and residual rapid test swabs.
