Assistant Professor

Lubbock, Texas, United States
I am an early career scientist beginning a faculty appointment in Biology with Texas Tech University. My research broadly investigates the eco-epidemiology and control of zoonotic, vector-borne pathogens. Within this context, I focus primarily on mosquitoes and arboviruses. I have a broad background in population ecology and evolution, field and laboratory methods for arbovirus surveillance, the design and implementation of mosquito control interventions, and quantitative methods. My career goals are to utilize ecological and empirical approaches to elucidate the mechanisms of arbovirus amplification and perpetuation in human-dominated environments and to suppress zoonotic arbovirus spillover into human populations. A key tenant of my research record is the synthesis of field studies with sound empirical methods and a focus on epi-outcomes in vector-borne disease intervention studies.
