Dr. Rebecca Heinig received her BA in Biology from Cornell University and her PhD in Entomology from The Pennsylvania State University. For her graduate degree, she investigated whether an entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana, could serve as a viable biocontrol agent for malaria mosquitoes. She has performed research in a variety of different areas over the years, including Medfly sterile insect technique (SIT), coffee genetics and industrial trap design. She joined Collier Mosquito Control District in 2018 as a Biologist and now serves as the Director of Research for the District.
