Perla Martínez graduated from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon with a degree in Genomic Biotechnology. She has participated in researcher projects associated with insecticide resistance in Aedes aegypti, particularly the insecticide resistance mechanism kdr at molecular level. Currently student in a postgraduated program at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon developing a research project related with chikungunya virus.
