54 - Polymorphisms in voltage gated sodium channel (vgsc) gene and its association with resistance to pyrethroid insecticides in Aedes aegypti (L.) (Diptera: Culicidae) populations from Mexico
Abstract: Widespread use of pyrethroid insecticides to control the main dengue vector Ae. aegypti, has caused selection pressure in a molecular mechanism of resistance, point mutations in the vgsc gene, named kdr for the phenotypic effect of knockdown resistance in individuals who have them. In this study, we evaluated the relationship between the frequency of kdr mutations in the vgsc gene and the response after exposure to bifenthrin and deltamethrin in Mexican populations of Ae. aegypti.
