Abstract: Mosquito control in the United States has been evolving since the first arrival of the Europeans. This presentation aims at providing examples of mosquito control over the past 200 years using historical figures and events. While technological advances in genetic engineering, computer generated dispersal equipment and site-specific insecticides have drastically changed how mosquito control is conducted, many control techniques have remained the same. This presentation will explore the good, the bad and the ugly of our war against mosquito borne diseases.
