Juan Pablo Frías, MD, is medical director and a principal investigator at Velocity Clinical Research in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Frías earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville,
Tennessee. He completed internships at the Naval Hospital, Oakland, California, and at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and underwent his residency in internal medicine at University of Tennessee, Baptist Hospital, in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Frías completed an endocrinology fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of
Endocrinology, and is board certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. Dr. Frías is a member of the American Diabetes Association, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes,
and the Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. He has served as principal investigator or sub-investigator for numerous clinical trials in the field of diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. He is the coauthor of 3
book chapters and has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in journals including Diabetes Care, Diabetes, Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, JAMA, Lancet, and the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Frías has earned many commendations and awards during his career, including the US Navy Commendation Medal and the US Navy Humanitarian Service Medal.
