Nurse Practitioner
Alaska Native Health Consortium
Palmer, Alaska, United States
Christy received her BSN in 2000 and then went on to complete her MSN in 2003. When she completed her initial NP certification in 2007 she had the opportunity to work in an Endocrinology practice where she was introduced to the challenge and diversity of diabetes and endocrine disease management and found that she truly enjoyed it. As her husband's career moved her across the country from Texas to North Carolina and then to Alaska she began work in Indian Health clinics. Initially hired for primary care in Ketchikan, AK she soon found the need for more intense diabetes management in this population and soon started a Diabetes clinic. Life circumstances moved her to the Anchorage, AK area and she started work at Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium in the Diabetes department in 2018. In 2022 she was invited to start seeing patients in the Endocrinology department due to her background. She currently serves as a state-wide diabetes and endocrine consultant for the Tribal health organizations across the state of Alaska, with opportunities to travel to Alaska villages for diabetes specialty clinic throughout the year. She works to educate and meet the patients where they are at in order to improve medication and lifestyle adherence with their chronic conditions.
