Major Chad Thompson began his career with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in 1992 as a Deputy assigned to the Corrections Bureau. He has also served as a supervisor in both the Corrections and Patrol Bureaus of the office as well as being the assistant commander of the hostage negotiation team.
In September of 2012, he was promoted to the rank of Major and was assigned as the facility commander for the downtown jail. In July of 2014 he was moved to the Research and Development Bureau and helped form and continues to lead the C.O.R.E. and Transition teams as the project manager for the new jail design and construction project.
Major Thompson is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command class #281 and the National Jail Leadership Command Academy class #14 and is the recipient of numerous commendations and awards that include 2 lifesaving awards.
