Employee Support Unit Chief and Staff Counselor

Ainisha Persaud is a licensed clinical mental health professional who has been an advocate for correctional employee wellness and self-care for almost 2 decades. She currently works full-time at the Prince George’s County Dept. of Corrections as the chief for the Employee Support Unit where she supervises the Critical Incident Stress Management Peer Support Team and serves as the staff behavioral health advisor. She provides mental health assessments and intervention for front line staff and the emergency response team following traumatic incidents. She is a consultant on policy issues pertaining to staff wellness and implements programs and events to boost morale and address workplace culture. Ainisha is an adjunct instructor at the jail’s Development, Education, and Training Academy regularly conducting in-service training on such topics as Employee Wellness, Trauma Informed Care, Crisis De-Escalation, Conflict Resolution and Domestic Violence.
