Susan McCampbell is the President of the Center for Innovative Public Policies, Inc., (www.cipp.org), and McCampbell and Associates, Inc. Since 2009, she has served as the lead instructor for NJLCA. CIPP is involved in initiatives: jail leadership development, root cause analysis, accountability-based management, core competencies for jail leaders, recruitment and retention, and guidance for newly appointed wardens.
Ms. McCampbell served as a Federal Court Monitor in Miami-Dade County, Fl., Cook County, Ill., New Orleans, La., the U. S. Virgin Islands, and currently is a Federal Court Monitor in the matter of the US v. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Ms. McCampbell was the Director, Dept. of Corrections, Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Fl., for four years overseeing the dally operations of a jail system with 4,200 inmates, and three facilities. McCampbell was appointed Chief Deputy/Acting Sheriff following the death of the Sheriff. She served for 11 years as Assistant Sheriff, City of Alexandria, Virginia, Sheriff’s Office, and a Program Director for Police Executive Research Forum.
Ms. McCampbell holds a BA in Political Science, School of Government and Public Administration, American University, Washington, D. C., and a Master’s in City and Regional Planning, School of Architecture and Engineering, the Catholic University of America, Washington, D. C.
In 2018, Ms. McCampbell was awarded the American Jail Association’s Francis R. “Dick” Ford Distinguished Service Award for exceptional leadership, vision, and commitment to the professional advancement of local corrections. She is a lifetime Certified Jail Manager.
