Captain Brian Richards began his career at the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office in October 1989. He is a graduated from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Academy in October 1990. Captain Richards also graduated from Bellevue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration.
Captain Richards has worked in various divisions of the Sheriff's Office including Administration (Professional Standards, Policy, CALEA and the Training Unit), Road Patrol, Narcotics, Investigations, and Jail Administrator. He also served on the Emergency Service Unit for eight years and as the Adjunct High-Risk Incident Commander. Captain Richards was the project manager for the new Sarpy County Correctional Center. He currently is assigned as the Investigations Division Commander.
