Executive Director
Founder, Colorado
In 2018 I started volunteering with the Garfield County Sheriffs Department in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, conducting recovery meetings and Bible study groups. This opened the door to the Eagle County Jail and then an opportunity to work with parolees out of the Rifle, Colorado parole office. In 2019 I became a certified peer recovery coach and became an Approved Treatment Provider for the Colorado Department of Corrections conducting the subsatance use disorder classes for the parole department.
In 2020 there were very limited resources for those being released from jail or prison in addition to the homeless, those addicted or struggling with other mental health challenges. Kings and Priests Ministry became a registered non profit charitable organization and we opened our first Discovery Cafe in Rifle, CO.
We provide a warm, safe, drug and alcohol free space and loving community to help our clients in recovery gain and maintain access to housing, social and health services, healthy relationships, education and employment. We do this with our non clinical peer to peer support model. We offer both English and Spanish recovery meetings.
We have since opened a second location in a conference room of a medical clinic, opened our first felon friendly sober living home, have been approved and run 3 groups in the Garfield County Jail and 6 groups (one in Spanish) in the Rifle Correctional Center as an approved program by Colorado Department of Corrections.
I have a passion for my work as I was first arrested for a shooting at age 15, addicted to cocaine, diagnosed with Bipolar and PTSD, was in out of city and county jails and prison (CDOC) 7 times. Paroled homeless several times. I know the plight. I have that lived experience and have been in recovery again since 2018.
