Mamun Rahman is a Public Health Educator at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. He has been dedicated to mental health promotion work, with a particular focus on suicide prevention for law enforcement. Since 2017, Mamun has been deployed to work in the city's jail system, located on Rikers Island. There, Mamun is a true champion of community wellness and is committed to improving vulnerable populations' health and well-being. His proficiency is adeptness at code-switching, seamlessly transitioning between collaborating with the uniform and non-uniform correctional personnel and interacting with the population under their custodianship.
During the pandemic, Mamun was activated for the agency's response to COVID-19. He led vaccine clinics in all five boroughs of NYC, with a particular focus on areas with low vaccine uptake. Mamun continues his tireless efforts and dedication to community wellness best practices by developing mental health promotion programs for communities with health disparities during and post-COVID-19.
