Kristi Dietz is a U.S. Department of Justice certified Prison Rape Elimination Act auditor dual certified in 2015 to audit adult and juvenile facility types. She is also the CEO of the consulting firm Justice Matters, LLC. Kristi has conducted a number of PREA audits and was selected by the National PREA Resource Center (PRC) to participate as a training auditor with the Auditor Field Training Program since 2018. Kristi also provides training and technical assistance to the field as assigned by the PRC.
Kristi is a correctional professional with 32 years of service with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC) retiring in 2019. From 2011 - 2018, she served as the WI DOC’s Director of the Office of Detention Facilities (ODF) and the agency’s Tribal Liaison. The Office of Detention Facilities has statutory authority for the regulation and oversight of local detention facilities including; county jails, houses of correction, secure juvenile detention centers, unlocked Huber facilities and municipal lockups (over 130 facilities). ODF's work involves conducting annual inspections of each facility, providing technical assistance and training to local jurisdictions, and coordinating a variety of efforts to assist sheriffs, jail administrators, superintendents, police chiefs and other local officials in the safe and secure operation and management of their detention facilities. during her tenure as Director, Kristi was able to acquire PREA grants, PREA training and technical assistance on several occasions in an effort to enhance sexual safety in Wisconsin jails, one tribal jail, secure juvenile facilities and municipal lockups.
