The new Jails and Justice Support Center (JJSC) will provide training and technical assistance support for the safe and constitutional operation of the nation's jails, with a focus on key and emerging areas of concern for jail staff, administrators, and stakeholders from various constituencies. This session provides an opportunity for jail representatives at the AJA Conference and Jail Expo to give the JJSC leadership the benefit of their experience and advice as the Center prepares for its formal launch in August 2023. At this session, Center staff and leaders will hold a 'listening session', guided by several topics and discussion points, facilitated so that attendees will have an opportunity to provide input regarding the issues they see as most critical for jails today, and that will provide opportunities for meaningful and impactful training and technical assistance.

Learning Objectives:

Provide an opportunity for jail leaders and administrators to talk to JJSC leadership about the key issues they face regarding safe and constitutional operation of their jails. This will ensure that the Center is well informed regarding the operational realities and most challenging issues facing jails today.
Provide JJSC leadership an opportunity to introduce the Center and explain its origin and history, explain the Center's key goals and objectives, and describe the types of training and technical ass that will be available from the Center.
