Lesson plans are the road map to professional, performance-based training. Lesson plans identify the topic, the goals and performance sought from the learner and the strategies used to engage learners to achieve and evaluate performance. Additionally, due to the litigious nature of jails, lessons plans also serve as a line of defense when training is being challenged as part of a suit or inquiry. This workshop will breakdown and review the various elements within the structure of an effective lesson plan. Overall, attendees will leave the workshop with an understanding of the lesson plan structure and how lesson plans are critical to your training programs, and to the agency overall. This workshop is eligible for credit hours toward the Certified Correctional Trainer (CCT) program.
Learning Objectives:
Defend the importance of developing and using lesson plans to conduct training classes within jails
Explain the structure and the parts of a training class lesion plan
Assess the quality of your lesson plans as well as your jail’s lesson plans
