The Correctional Management Institute of Texas is excited to offer its Partnership Saturday program at AJA's annual conference: Developing Leadership Training Programs That Make a Difference. During the morning session, you will hear from Doug Dretke and Dr. Randy Garner, who will discuss the ‘why,’ ‘what,’ ‘who,’ and ‘how’ of leadership training. They will lead an interactive discussion on developing professional development training and share lessons on personal and professional development programs they have developed and delivered through their extensive experience as leaders themselves and interactions with many correctional leaders from across the world. Dr. Garner will share his expertise on utilization and shortcomings of common training evaluations then leading into the afternoon, Dr. Matthew Bills will present his findings from an extensive and comprehensive training evaluation conducted and discuss the importance of evaluating your training program and lessons learned. He will discuss why such evaluations are important, what they can tell you about your training, and how to conduct your own evaluation. Susan McCampbell will wrap up our session by talking about why and how jails need to prioritize leadership development for the future of jail operations, including the use of the core competencies for jail leaders.
