In September 2022, the Journal of Dental Education published a special forward-thinking issue on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. The articles in this issue were explored further during the 2022 ADEA Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Workshop in October 2022. This interactive session explores the lived experience of dental school leadership and faculty members and how we interpret and apply the lessons learned from the September issue and adapt them to achieve a greater sense of belonging tailored to our unique institutions. The recent research shows there is still more to be learned and there could be major benefits from applying DEIB initiatives in health care. Participants will learn resource efficiency tools for steady elimination of discriminations and how to take your university to the next level by applying an inclusive approach of belonging to pull people in to allow collaborative teams to lead the future of oral and overall health care.

Learning Objectives:

Discuss the diversity dean perspective about diversity questions from CODA standards to recruiting students.
Describe challenges faced by dental school deans in recruiting a diverse faculty and student body.
Explore and discuss one’s sense of privilege.
