ADEA has an extensive statement promoting Diversity & Inclusion (DI) while CODA requires students to ‘effectively function in a multi-cultural work environment.’ Dental educators now trying to meet such CODA standards & ADEA principles face legislative initiatives that may constrain such dialogue. This workshop explores such challenges and proposes strategies that addresses counter-legislative narratives that limits teaching that might ‘discuss any divisive or controversial issues.’ Facilitated small groups will identify challenges and possibilities for further inclusion and dialogue by using Freire’s principles of ‘dialogical learning’: teaching with humility, hope, an a priori ‘faith’ in other, critical questioning, and reflective communication.
