UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work & UNC-Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry
Innovative partnerships between schools of dentistry, pharmacy, and social work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have led to creative interprofessional learning possibilities for learners from the three disciplines. In this hands-on workshop, a clinical pharmacist and clinical social worker will describe the process and outcomes of The Adams School of Dentistry’s inaugural interprofessional practice and education (IPEP) rotation, and offer steps and lessons learned for other academic health institutions to consider in establishing their own interprofessional rotation model.
Learning Objectives:
Identify needs of patient population and student clinical learning environment that may benefit from an interprofessional approach to the DDS rotation experience.
Discuss methods to develop an interprofessional education and practice rotation model at your own institution using the steps of development presented.
Develop a “next steps” action plan for creating an interprofessional rotation at their home institution.
