Integrating basic science into clinical practice has been a challenge for many years in dental education. The INBDE opened the door for creativity to assist students in the process of learning and recalling critical topics. At NYU Dentistry, a series of online courses was created to challenge students beginning in their first year with weekly INBDE-style patient boxes and questions to review topics from all disciplines across the curriculum. Faculty from different departments write questions, which creates an opportunity to review the curriculum. The purpose of the symposium is to share the current model and a supporting innovative application.
Learning Objectives:
Identify ways to integrate basic science and clinical knowledge in the curriculum and in preparation for the INBDE.
Describe low stress ways to help students master essential knowledge.
Describe an application designed to facilitate faculty collaboration on question creation.
