The UNC Adams School of Dentistry has shifted to determine practice readiness by utilizing longitudinal assessment and an Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) framework. Faculty calibration is essential as EPAs will be evaluated by different faculty over time. To this end, the goal of aligning clinical faculty in areas of confusion or varying criteria is key. Participants will discuss faculty calibration initiatives under this new framework, review the development and implementation of calibrations modules, and leave with ideas for calibration that can be incorporated at their institutions.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss a new longitudinal assessment framework used for calibration of clinical faculty to assess practice readiness of dental students.
Describe a model for faculty calibration to achieve alignment of entrustable professional activities to improve learning and assist in fulfilling accreditation standards.
Explain how the use of calibration based on entrustable professional activities can assist in meeting accreditation Standard 2-6.
