Error disclosure with patients and with the oral health team is probably one of the most challenging tasks that HCPs must do in their practice. Given this challenge, various experts will share best practices, tips, tricks, and tools in preparing students about the patient safety culture. During this session, participants will learn how to create a culture of patient safety that begins with student didactic education, is reinforced through clinical care, and extends to outreach experiences. Participants will also receive a toolbox on how to encourage patient safety in their educational programs and encourage compliance after student graduation.

Learning Objectives:

Discuss how to comply with CODA standards around patient safety and teach error disclosure in pre-clinical didactics.
Apply patient safety protocols in dental school clinics, private practice and outreach clinics.
Describe patient safety issues that have occurred and implement tools on preventing errors.
