Physicians and Pharmacologists are experts in managing systemic disease, chronic diseases and medical emergencies. Due to this expertise they often bring valuable information regarding patient disease, medications, adverse effects, drug interactions and potential oral health effects of systemic disease. This short talk will elaborate on the role of Physicians, Pharmacologists, Pharmacists and Nurses in educating dental students on systemic disease and its impact on oral health. Rubrics for Clinical competencies including medication history experiences and prescription writing for dental students will be described in detail. Presenters will share their experiences in developing a competency based interprofessional approach to dental education.

Develop new clinical competencies as educational tools to assess the dental student’s knowledge of systemic disease.
Describe competencies with detail of the dental patient’s systemic disease, medication list, prescription writing and oral health effects of systemic drugs.
