Not all learners in a cohort exhibit the same skill level. While remediation is not anticipated, both learner and educator acknowledge certain measurable outcomes must be met prior to educational advancement. Timely identification of weaknesses both didactically and clinically is key to successful intervention to ensure student or resident success and the development of clinically proficient practitioners. Faculty will discuss creation and implementation of remediation plans for both undergraduate and graduate learners. Their experiences will provide modifiable templates for participants. While the presenters represent two specialties, the information is universally applicable to any undergraduate and postdoctoral program.

Learning Objectives:

Identify factors necessary to create a viable remediation plan with measurable outcomes for dental students and residents.
Construct a template to comply with institutional directives and maximize the remediation experience.
Explain how to integrate alternative resources for those with learning disabilities.
