In an increasingly diverse country, where patient centered care is the focus of practice, there are still many marginalized communities whose care is not centered on their specific needs. Many who identify as transgender do not feel comfortable going to the dentist, with a common reason being a previous negative experience with an oral health provider. Numerous barriers exist that prevent some transgender people from receiving oral health care that meets their needs. Participants will learn about the clinical and oral implications for working with transgender patients and identify ways to address barriers in their dental education institution.
