Traumatic dental injuries was largely an under-investigated topic in clinical dental care until the last decade. Since the International Association for Dental Traumatology formally introduced evidence based guidelines, newer evidences have been reported leading to the publishing of updated guidelines. This continuing education seminar will provide background and some updates on management of traumatic dental injuries. Furthermore, the extent of dental trauma education within dental schools around the world is largely unknown but believed to be very diverse. Dental trauma education presents many unique challenges in the classic dental education system. Dr. Puranik will discuss development, implementation, and outcome of problem-based learning (PBL) in dental curriculum to teach traumatic dental injuries. Additionally, a feasibility of PBL in continuing traumatic dental education will be discussed
Learning Objectives:
Discuss background and need for guidelines for management of Traumatic Dental Injuries.
Define updated guidelines on management of traumatic dental injuries.
Review planning, implementation, outcome and implications of PBL in traumatic dental injuries education.
