While growing up in Columbus, Ohio, I became interested in serving my country as a pilot in the Navy and elected to pursue engineering at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Upon graduation from Miami, I was commissioned in the US Navy, selected for flight school, and spent the next decade of my life serving as a pilot. While this was a wonderful experience, my desire to serve continued when I saw the potential of a career in dentistry and worked toward that goal.
In 2011, I started my second career as a dental student at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation in 2015, I returned to the Navy, this time focusing on a different career trajectory. I completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry in Norfolk VA. This provided a strong foundation in many specialties and allowed me to thrive as a general dentist. My first assignment in 2016 was onboard an aircraft carrier, the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) which deployed to the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean and Baltic Sea.
I loved Europe so much that the Navy moved my family to Sicily, Italy, where I continued to serve for three years. It was in Italy that I worked with a pediatric dentist and realized how much I enjoyed treating children. In 2020, I was selected by the Navy to complete a pediatric dental residency, and ultimately selected by Nationwide Children's Hospital to serve as a resident for the next two years.
When not at work, my wife, Kelleigh, and I are busy watching our four children on athletic fields and swimming pools around Ohio.
