My name is Moones Rajabi, I am currently a second year resident of Pediatric Dentistry at Saint Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson, NJ. My inspiration in becoming a dentist came from my childhood dental experience. I was 6 years old when I first went to see my dentist. His office looked like a magical amusement park to me. The whole dental treatment was filled with joy and fun that I would always want to go to him for my dental works even when I was a teenager. My dentist’s passion in taking care of children’s teeth became my motivation to become a dentist. Later, my experiences at Temple University, Bronxcare Hospital, and pediatric fellowship at Montefiore Hospital, all together, helped me realize that my calling is in pediatric dentistry. Since July 1st, 2021, I have been working as a pediatric dentistry resident at Saint Joseph's University Medical Center. The depth of my exposure to pediatric dentistry has increased dramatically through this program, where I am given the opportunity to treat lots of pediatric patients in clinic on a daily basis. I also learned the management skills of pediatric trauma cases as I saw more patients in the emergency room while being on call. I always envisioned how gratifying it must be to practice pediatric dentistry and my experiences have been nothing short of my expectations.
My research's topic is " Oral health behavior, attitude and knowledge of dental caries among mothers of 0-71 months old children living in north New Jersey, United States. " In this research I was able to evaluate the knowledge of the biological mothers regarding the oral health of their children and attempted to increase their awareness about children’s oral hygiene.
