Dr. Carla Alvarez, D.M.D. Pediatric Dental Resident at the University of Southern California.
Dr. Carla was born in the Philippines and raised in Guam and the Bay Area. She graduated
from the University of California, Irvine, and earned her bachelor’s degree in biology. During
college, she worked as a behavioral therapist where her interest in behavior management and
treating children with special needs was piqued. She attended the University of Pennsylvania
School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia where she graduated with honors in Community Oral
Health. During her residency at the University of Southern California, her research involved
utilizing virtual reality in the dental setting. Dr. Carla is a National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
scholar and is passionate about improving community public health and education in
underserved communities. Following residency, she will be working at a federally qualified
health center in Los Angeles, CA. In her free time, Dr. Carla enjoys trying new restaurants and
taking long walks on the beach with her dog, Sashi.
