Various health service reports and guides have emphasised the importance of interacting with children and accepting their views. However, the outcomes usually do not reflect their views due to differences between children and adults. Eye-tracking technology is a non-invasive method that provides an objective view of children's perceptions used to understand what children notice on common dental presentations, including dental caries (tooth decay), dental trauma, midline diastema, diet and caries, and healthcare workers' personal protective equipment.
Learning Objectives:
Understand how children and their parents perceive common dental presentations such as dental caries, trauma and diastema.
Gain insight into how eye tracking technology works and the applications of eye tracking technology in dentistry.
Learn the shortfalls and guide to using eye tracking technology in dental research.
