Fully guided third molar tooth bud ablation (3TBA) is being developed to be a safe, rapid, and effective means of preventing third molars from forming. Detailed procedure information will be presented that includes 3TBA screening and pre-op procedures, protocols for a safe 3TBA procedure, histological and radiographical characterization of the post 3TBA healing response, and an overview of ongoing human clinical trials.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will understand the surgical mechanisms of how fully guided 3TBA clinically induces third molar agenesis.
Upon completion, participants will understand why 3TBA eliminates all of the complications associated with surgical extraction of third molars later in life.
Upon completion, participants will be able to safely screen their patients for the presence of third molar tooth buds.
