The last few years has seen an increase in gender dysphoria among the pediatric dental population. Children experiencing gender dysphoria, and their families, are often navigating many challenges. It is important for the pediatric dental team to be educated on the difference between current definitions of sex vs gender as well as gender terminology as it relates to their patients. In this presentation, we will discuss ways the pediatric dental team can approach these discussions with patients and families as well as practice management changes that can lead to a more inclusive experience for everyone.

Upon completion, participants will be able to define the difference between sex and gender.
Upon completion, participants will be able to understand current gender definitions as it applies to their patient population.
Upon completion, participants will be able to educate their dental team on possible practice management changes to be more gender inclusive.
