Minimally Invasive Curriculums in Pediatric Dentistry Advanced Dental Education Programs

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate and compare the minimally invasive dentistry curriculum and practices of minimally invasive dentistry in pediatric dentistry advanced dental education programs in the United States.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional questionnaire-based survey which will invite program directors of the 82 advanced dental education programs in pediatric dentistry to participate by completing the self-administered questionnaire.

Results: Descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages will be employed to summarize data.

Conclusions: This study will evaluate if the following minimally invasive dentistry techniques in primary teeth are included in a programs curriculum didactically, clinically, both didactically and clinically, or neither: Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF); Preventative Resin Restoration (PRR); Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART); Modified Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (mART); Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Technique (SMART); and Hall Technique (HT). The study will elucidate if curriculums are standardized among pediatric dentistry advanced dental education programs.
