Artificial intelligence is changing the way many professions function. With the recent advances in deep learning, there is major interest from medical and dental disciplines in applying these methods to imaging and many other decision-making and prediction processes. This lecture gives an overview of what artificial intelligence/machine learning is and what areas the newly developed deep learning algorithms is currently affecting and will continue to change in orthodontics.
Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, attendees will be able to:
Identify commonly used machine learning/artificial intelligence methods.
Apply machine learning to daily orthodontic processes.
Define what differences machine learning algorithms and conventional methods may have in the accurate prediction of outcomes.
