Dr. Manuel Lagravère is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. He has also obtained the Clinical Trial Expert Certification from McMasters University and is Director of the Applied Oral Health Research Unit in the Dentistry Department. He is also the Discipline Lead for Undergraduate Orthodontics. Presently he runs several clinical trials involving orthodontic treatments and its impact on airway, skeletal, and dental changes. Some of the trials revolve around the us of three-dimensional imaging and analysis. Major focus of his research is in analyzing different methods of maxillary expansion using tooth-anchored, bone-anchored, hybrid among other type of expanders In several of these trials, he works jointly with universities from the US, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Mexico. Dr. Lagravère has published more than 130 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. He has also written several book chapters. He has supervised more than 25 MSc and two PhD students. He has also lectured internationally.
