Owing to the complexity of teeth movements by clear aligners, use of finite element method (FEM) may facilitate understanding their biomechanical behavior. The aim of our study is to use a FEM realistic model to investigate the effect of the trimming line design of orthodontic aligners on the force delivery and stress distribution onto tooth surface and its surrounding structure.
Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, attendees will be able to:
Describe how the finite element method can be applied to study aligner's biomechanics.
Evaluate how the trimming line design affect the force system of orthodontic aligners.
Demonstrate the force distribution map on tooth surface transmitted by aligners.
