Efficacy of Lower Arch Leveling, Lower Incisors’ Root Resorption, and Pain Associated with the Correction of Curve of Spee Using Different Orthodontic Archwires: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Up to this day, many orthodontists are using a reverse COS continuous AW for mandibular arch leveling without clear evidence which is the most effective rectangular AW’s size to be used. Also, the effect of using continuous rectangular AW on lower incisors’ root resorption and patient’s pain perception has not been studied before. Therefore, this investigation was carried out to investigate the efficacy of 3 different dimensions of continuous leveling AWs (0.017 X 0.025-inch stainless steel (SS), 0.019 X 0.025-inch SS, and 0.021 Å~ 0.025-inch beta titanium (TMA)) for the correction of excessive COS in the mandibular arch.
Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, attendees will be able to:
Recognize which archwire has been the most effective one in leveling the curve of Spee.
Illustrate the side effect that happened with all investigated archwires while leveling the curve of Spee.
Explain that there is a different way of leveling the curve of Spee could be achieved.
