Evaluation of Clinical Efficacy of Three Nickel Titanium Archwires during Alignment and Levelling Phase of Comprehensive Orthodontic Treatment: A Double-Blind Randomized Clinical Trial
There was significant reduction in crowding during the 12-week time period with the use of all archwires. There was no significant difference between the three treatment groups in the decrease in irregularity over time (P≥0.05). There was no significant difference between the three groups in the changes in change of mean arch length values, change of mean intermolar arch width, change of mean Curve of Spee values at T0, T1, T2 and T3 intervals when compared among Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3 (P≥0.05). However, the difference of mean intercanine and interpremolar arch width increase at T0, T1, T2 and T3 was significantly more in Group 1 compared to Group 3 (P≥0.05) at T0, T1, T2 and T3. The change of mean value of pain scores at Tp0, Tp1, Tp2, Tp3 and Tp4 between Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3 (P≥0.05) were found to be non-significant.
Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, attendees will be able to:
Compare alignment efficacy of the three different archwires.
Compare changes in arch dimensions using the three different archwires.
Compare the pain experience of the three different archwires.
