Although molar distalization became more popular with the introduction of TADs, achieving bodily distalization of molars is still very difficult. This is because there are anatomic limitations that obstruct the distalization. There also are biomechanical problems resulting in distal tipping of molars or extrusion of incisors. In this presentation, a three-dimensional evaluation of anatomic limitations and solutions for biomechanical problems will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, attendees will be able to:
Analyze the anatomic limitations of molar distalization.
Analyze the biomechanical problems of molar distalization.
Apply anatomic and biomechanical considerations to planning molar distalization.
