Traditionally, Class II malocclusion can be treated distalizing the maxillary arch or enhancing mandibular growth. Our research on molar distalization in growing and non-growing individuals, with or without TADs, will be presented together with our studies on patients treated with the Herbst appliance with or without skeletal anchorage. Finally a limited literature review will be presented and personal conclusions will be drawn.
Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, attendees will be able to:
Evaluate long term outcomes of molar distalization in growing patients.
Recognize the importance of mandibular and maxillary incisor control when Herbst appliance is utilized to advance Pogonion.
Define maxillary and mandibular TADs position to maximize incisor anchorage when Herbst appliance is utilized to advance Pogonion.
