Recent developments in digital dentistry and the application of TADs have dramatically improved diagnosis, customizing techniques and treatment efficiency. However, even with the most ideal diagnosis and cutting-edge appliances, orthodontists sometimes confront unpredicted individual biological responses or clinical phenomenon not yet well understood.
The aim of this presentation is to discuss physiological, biologic and esthetic limitations that may interfere with treatment outcomes in cases of premolar extraction with anterior retraction and would like to propose clinical fundaments to successful anterior retraction in the TAD era.
Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, attendees will be able to:
Identify indications and treatment mechanics to improve Class II malocclusion with premolar extraction.
Recognize the benefits of TADs-supported Class II treatment mechanics during anterior retraction.
Critically appraise the esthetic and biologic outcomes as well as limitations following treatment of TADs-supported absolute anterior retraction.
