The Computer Assisted Design (CAD) and Computer Assisted Manufacturing (CAM) application of the Edgewise orthodontic bracket system is an important step in upgrading the analog/manual placement of our over one hundred year-old Edgewise bracket system to current technological levels. This presentation represents forty-plus years of experience in the custom bracket bonding field, allowing perspective regarding advice on the use of both fully customized and stock bracket placement of the Edgewise slot. Practical recommendations are made regarding the application of the stock prescription bracket versus a fully customized bracket in the digital CAD/CAM environment.
