The evolution of CAD/CAM manufacturing brought about new possibilities in the treatment of several malocclusions particularly the transverse dimension. Nevertheless, the biologic and anatomic limits are still to be taken into considerations as well as the biomechanical principles that govern tooth movement during orthodontic treatment and beyond. This presentation will illustrate the current principles and techniques of MARPE planning and manufacturing from a clinical perspective in an evidence-based approach.
Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, attendees will be able to:
Apply current methods in planning and fabricating MARPE.
Identify the diagnostic parameters to be considered when it comes to case selection.
Realize the importance of a patient-first, instead of appliance-first approach.
