During orthodontic treatments, we often times encounter a situation where the mandible is shifted. It is a common problem among both youth and adults, which has a huge impact on the outcome of treatment. I will explain why it is important to start an orthodontic treatment from correction of the main problem in a patient’s occlusion and only then finish with alignment of the teeth. I will also invite listeners to discuss the limits of dental camouflage with aligners in a case with skeletal asymmetries.
Learning Objectives:
After this lecture, attendees will be able to:
Recognize the shift of a mandible as well as differentiate between a skeletal and a dental shift.
Create a tool for mandible reposition.
Reduce the number of aligners in their treatment of facial asymmetry.
