Practitioners will invariably run across patients who have "recovered" from a COVID-19 infection. While most patients do fully recover, a significant percentage of patients develop long lasting symptoms affecting primarily the lungs, brain and heart. This presentation will address in some detail the nature of the changes that do develop in some individuals after their COVID-19 infection and how those changes might impact the delivery of minimal or moderate sedation.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the common findings in the post COVID-19 patient with residual symptoms.
Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the anatomical changes in the lungs and hearts in the post COVID-19 patient.
Upon completion, participants will be able to make literature based decisions regarding when and if to provide sedation for an elective procedure in the post COVID-19 patient.
