A new technology is now being introduced into North America which provides a superior means of office disinfection/sanitization. This new technology synthesizes aqueous ozone, thus making AO3 available to all dental, medical, and healthcare professionals for use in their offices. This paper provides the chemical description of ozone synthesized electrolytically from water and how AO3 can be used in disinfection. AS Aqueous ozone is free of synthetic chemicals, it provides safe, non-toxic protection to all patients, staff, visitors, and providers - from microbial cross-contamination multiple times daily when used as directed. Studies in laboratory testing have validated greater than 99.999% reduction in 30 seconds or less of the following microorganisms - Staphylococcus Aureus, Escherichia Coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Candid Albicans, and MRSA. This session will outline studies and practices aimed at providing clinicians with the tools necessary to effectively implement Aqueous Ozone into their infection control program.
Learning Objectives:
Describe how aqueous ozone can be used in disinfection.
Describe how aqueous ozone is safe and non-toxic to patients, staff, and visitors.
Understand the microorganisms targeted by aqueous ozone.
