Antibiotics are one of the most frequently used medications in implant dentistry, yet they are also one of the least understood and improperly used class of drugs. Clinicians should have an understanding for the proper empirical use of antibiotics in the treatment of oral-facial infections and surgical prophylaxis. This presentation will provide detailed evidence-based algorithms for the treatment of oral-facial infections and surgical prophylaxis in both non-immunocompromised and immunocompromised patients. Prevention of guided bone regeneration infections will also be discussed.
